HOW MIKEL ARTETA LED ARSENAL TO HISTORIC PREMIER LEAGUE GLORY AFTER 22-YEAR WAIT


Arsenal's return to the top of English football after 22 years has been credited to a long-term rebuilding project built on patience, leadership, culture, and unity under manager Mikel Arteta.

The club's official behind-the-scenes feature detailed how Arteta, club owners Stan and Josh Kroenke, sporting director Andrea Berta, the players, and supporters combined efforts to end the club's Premier League title drought.

Reflecting on the achievement, Arteta said witnessing captain Martin Ødegaard lift the Premier League trophy was even more rewarding than he had imagined.

"It was much better. I was just looking at the players' faces, how much it means to them, and to see them gathering together and lifting it. It was incredible," the Arsenal manager said.

The triumph sparked massive celebrations across North London and around the world. The club said about one million supporters gathered in Islington during the victory parade, while fans in countries including Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, India, China, Ethiopia and Australia also celebrated the historic success.

According to Arsenal, the celebrations went beyond football, describing the occasion as a social phenomenon that united supporters across different cultures.

New signing Eberechi Eze, who joined the Gunners during the championship-winning season, described Arsenal as more than a football club.

"This isn't just about winning the title as a group of players. This is about something that represents an area, represents values, represents people's dreams. Arsenal is the culture club," he said.

The report revealed that Arteta's rebuilding process, which began after his appointment in 2019, focused heavily on restoring the club's identity and culture.

Arsenal co-chair Josh Kroenke explained that discussions with Arteta before his appointment centred more on rebuilding the club's culture than football tactics.

Sporting director Andrea Berta also disclosed that Arsenal prioritised signing players with the right mentality and character before considering their technical qualities.

Captain Martin Ødegaard praised the unity within the squad, saying every player was committed to supporting one another both on and off the pitch.

On the field, Arsenal's success was driven by strong defensive performances and consistent contributions from key players, including goalkeeper David Raya, defenders William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães, midfielder Declan Rice, and several other members of the squad.

Despite facing difficult moments during the campaign, Arteta continually encouraged supporters to remain united and optimistic.

The club's decisive run came in the closing weeks of the season as Arsenal maintained their title challenge before eventually securing the Premier League crown after Manchester City's setback at Bournemouth.

Declan Rice's declaration that "It's not done" after a defeat to Manchester City became one of the team's motivating messages during the final stretch of the campaign.

Andrea Berta said belief within the club never faded.

"We never lacked the conviction that this was and would be our season," he stated.

Arsenal concluded that their championship success was the result of years of persistence, careful planning, and a united vision shared by the club's owners, management, players and supporters.

The club described the Premier League triumph as the culmination of a long-term project founded on trust, strong relationships, and a culture where everyone played an important role.
