TOPE LIBERTY CARES DEFENDS AIYEDATIWA, QUESTIONS STATISENSE GOVERNANCE RANKING


Tope Liberty Cares has defended the administration of Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, following a report attributed to StatiSense and published by The Guardian, which reportedly ranked the state among the country's low-performing governments.

In a press statement signed by Olowofoyekun Temitope Dadeowo, the group said while governments should remain open to public scrutiny and constructive criticism, any assessment of governance should be transparent, evidence-based, and supported by verifiable facts.

According to the statement, no human-led government is without challenges, stressing that governance should not be judged solely by a numerical score whose methodology has not been fully explained to the public.

The group argued that residents of Ondo State have witnessed developments across several sectors under the Aiyedatiwa administration, citing claims of reduced domestic debt, improvements in healthcare through the recruitment of health professionals and provision of medical equipment, recruitment of teachers, road construction, investments in water and industrial development, and efforts to strengthen security through the Amotekun Corps.

It maintained that these achievements should be assessed through verifiable evidence and on-the-ground realities rather than what it described as a questionable performance index.

Tope Liberty Cares also called on StatiSense to publicly explain the methodology behind its assessment, including the indicators used, data sources, period covered, weighting of sectors, and benchmarks applied in arriving at its conclusions.

The group stated that its position was not a call for unqualified praise of the governor but an appeal for fairness, transparency, and objectivity in evaluating government performance.

It further urged Governor Aiyedatiwa to remain focused on implementing the administration's OUR EASE Agenda, expressing confidence that the people of Ondo State would ultimately assess the government's performance based on projects executed, services delivered, and measurable improvements in their daily lives.

According to the statement, if the reported assessment did not adequately reflect investments and developments in areas such as infrastructure, security, healthcare, education, power supply, and workers' welfare, questions about the comprehensiveness and objectivity of the ranking would be justified.

The statement concluded that governance should be evaluated using verifiable facts and measurable outcomes, while encouraging transparency in the publication of performance assessments.
