A CELEBRATION OF IMPACT: OTUNBA AKINSIKU MARKS BIRTHDAY AS TRIBUTES POUR IN


Tributes, goodwill messages and congratulatory greetings have continued to pour in from family members, friends, colleagues, associates and well-wishers as Otunba Oluwapelumi Stephen Akinsiku marks his birthday today.

Akinsiku, who is widely known as “Opima,” is being celebrated for his contributions to youth development, community engagement, media advocacy and public communication, particularly within Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

He currently serves as the Special Assistant on Media to the Executive Chairman of Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government, where he is involved in communicating government programmes, activities and initiatives to residents and the wider public.

Through his media responsibilities, Akinsiku has remained active in documenting developments within the local government and amplifying information on projects, policies, community programmes and other activities aimed at improving the lives of residents.

Beyond his current public service role, Akinsiku has also built a profile in student leadership and media entrepreneurship. He is a former National President of the National Union of Ile-Oluji Students (NUIS), a position through which he represented the interests of students and participated in initiatives focused on education, youth engagement and community development.

He is also the Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of Opima Real News, an online news platform that publishes reports and features covering local, state, national and other public-interest issues.

His involvement in journalism and public communication has further strengthened his engagement with issues affecting young people and communities, while providing a platform for reporting developments and highlighting matters of public interest.

An indigene of Ile-Oluji, the headquarters of Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area, Akinsiku is described by those close to him as a Christian, a lover of development and a strong advocate for youth capacity building.

His interest in youth development has been reflected in his continued advocacy for initiatives that encourage young people to acquire relevant skills, participate meaningfully in community affairs and contribute positively to society.

As he marks another year, friends, colleagues, political associates, community members and well-wishers have taken to social media and other channels to celebrate him.

Birthday flyers bearing his photographs have been circulated across social media platforms, while text messages, phone calls, personal visits and gifts have also formed part of the celebrations.

ONDO GOVT ORDERS TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF SELECTED SCHOOLS AHEAD OF STATE ASSEMBLY ELECTION The Ondo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has announced the temporary closure of selected public primary and secondary schools across the state ahead of the Ondo State House of Assembly election scheduled for Wednesday, May 20, 2026. According to a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, the affected schools are those designated as polling centres for the election across the 18 Local Government Areas of the state.
