Community leader congratulates Prof. Tayo Fagbemi-led executive, urges members to prioritise unity and collective progress

The Gboluji Anglican Grammar School Old Students’ Association (GBOSA) has elected a new set of National Executives to oversee the affairs of the association for the 2026–2028 tenure.

Reacting to the outcome of the election held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the School Hall of Gboluji Anglican Grammar School, Ile-Oluji, Ondo State, prominent old student and community leader, Otunba Femi Ayeni, congratulated the Electoral Committee on what he described as a free, fair, credible and peaceful exercise.

Ayeni said the successful conduct of the election demonstrated the maturity, unity and commitment to democratic values among members of GBOSA, describing the association as one with a strong alumni tradition both within Nigeria and in the diaspora.

He also congratulated the newly elected National President, Professor Tayo Nathaniel Fagbemi, and other members of the executive council, describing their emergence as an opportunity to serve the association and contribute to its continued development.

According to him, the new leadership should build on the achievements of previous administrations while identifying areas that require improvement.

“Every administration leaves behind lessons. The incoming executives must sustain the successes of their predecessors and improve on areas where challenges may have occurred. Leadership is a continuous process of learning, growth, and improvement,” Ayeni said.

The community leader urged the new National President to create an inclusive environment that would encourage active participation by GBOSA members regardless of their locations.

He further encouraged the leadership to embrace innovation and fresh ideas capable of strengthening the association’s relevance, visibility and impact.

Ayeni also charged the newly elected officers to regard themselves as ambassadors of GBOSA and to conduct their responsibilities with transparency, accountability, discipline and a commitment to service.

“The future of GBOSA depends on leaders who are willing to think differently, introduce new initiatives, and uphold the highest standards of accountability. Every officer must bring value to the office entrusted to him or her,” he stated.

Speaking on the values expected from the new administration, Ayeni emphasised the importance of integrity, honesty, fairness and the fear of God in decision-making.

He maintained that alumni associations can achieve sustainable progress when leaders place collective interests above personal ambitions and approach their responsibilities with humility and a strong sense of duty.

Ayeni expressed confidence in the ability of the newly elected executives to strengthen alumni engagement, improve members’ welfare and support initiatives aimed at advancing Gboluji Anglican Grammar School.

He also commended the delegates, Board of Trustees and other stakeholders for their contributions to the peaceful conduct of the election.

While wishing the new administration a successful tenure, Ayeni called for unity and cooperation among members to enable the association to achieve its objectives during the 2026–2028 period.

“I congratulate the Electoral Committee, the newly elected National Executives, and the entire GBOSA family. I wish them wisdom, unity, good health, and tremendous success throughout their tenure. May this administration take our great association to greater heights. Up School!” he said.
