The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the August 15, 2026 governorship election in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, has accepted the outcome of the election and congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory.

Oyebamiji made the declaration on Saturday in Osogbo while addressing APC leaders, members and supporters on the outcome of the election and the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.

While congratulating Adeleke, Oyebamiji urged the governor, in his capacity as the state’s Chief Security Officer, to take steps to address what he described as incidents of killings, harassment and intimidation involving APC members and supporters across the state.

The APC candidate expressed concern over reported cases of violence before, during and after the election.

He specifically referred to the reported killings of former Irewole Local Government Chairman, Remi Abass; APC Chairman in Atakumosa Local Government, Chief Gbenga Ogbara; Dele Ayegbo, identified as the nephew of the Director-General of the APC Governorship Campaign Council, Wole Oke; and other reported victims.

Oyebamiji condemned attacks allegedly targeting APC members, supporters and businesses because of their perceived political affiliations.

“The senseless killings, harassment and intimidation of members and supporters of our party must therefore stop forthwith,” he said.

He also called on the Nigeria Police Force to thoroughly investigate the reported killings and ensure that anyone found responsible is prosecuted in accordance with the law. He expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the incidents.

Reflecting on the election campaign, Oyebamiji expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support and commended former Osun State Governor, Bisi Akande, for his counsel.

He also acknowledged the efforts of Adegboyega Oyetola, former governor of Osun State and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, in strengthening the APC in the state.

Oyebamiji recalled that he emerged as the APC governorship candidate in December 2025, after which different tendencies within the party, according to him, worked together towards securing victory for the APC.

He said the campaign reached different parts of Osun State and engaged various groups, including civil servants, retirees, artisans, students, youths, entrepreneurs, women, professionals, sporting organisations, persons living with disabilities and religious organisations.

While congratulating Adeleke and joining residents in marking Osun State’s 35th anniversary, Oyebamiji urged the governor to uphold his constitutional responsibility to protect lives and property across the state.

He further said the APC would continue to pursue justice and fairness through lawful and constitutional channels, particularly in relation to the electoral process.

Oyebamiji urged APC members and supporters not to be discouraged by the election result, encouraging them to remain committed to democratic principles and have confidence in institutions established to safeguard citizens’ electoral rights.

Turning his attention to the 2027 general elections, the APC candidate called on party leaders, members and supporters across Osun State to begin preparations, with particular emphasis on President Tinubu’s re-election bid.

He urged party members to strengthen internal unity, consolidate the APC’s structures and work towards securing electoral victories for Tinubu and other APC candidates in the state.

Oyebamiji also commended APC members for what he described as their resilience and commitment throughout the election period.

He said the party would continue to pursue its vision of an Osun State where public resources are equitably deployed, opportunities are accessible and governance serves the interests of residents.
