TICC PRAISES OYEBAMIJI’S CONCESSION, URGES POLITICAL UNITY


OSOGBO, NIGERIA — AUGUST 31, 2026

The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has commended the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the recently concluded Osun State Governorship Election, Mr. Bola Oyebamiji, for congratulating Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory at the polls.

In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, Esq., the council described Oyebamiji’s gesture as a demonstration of sportsmanship, political maturity and respect for the democratic process.

TICC noted that while elections are often marked by intense competition and strong political emotions, the conclusion of an election should provide an opportunity for citizens and political leaders to refocus on the broader interests of the state.

“Elections will come and go, but Osun State remains our collective heritage,” the council said.

The council acknowledged that the election was keenly contested and that tensions surrounding the political process were high. It also expressed concern over the loss of lives associated with the electoral period, saying the development underscored the need for healing, reconciliation and sober reflection among political actors and citizens.

TICC therefore called on leaders across political parties and divides to embrace reconciliation and work together towards the peace, progress and development of Osun State.

According to the council, political differences should not become permanent divisions among people who share a common identity, history and destiny.

The campaign council further stated that Governor Adeleke remains open to constructive ideas and suggestions from Oyebamiji and other stakeholders on ways to advance the development of the state.

It stressed that the responsibility for building a stronger and more prosperous Osun should not rest solely on one political party or individual, but should be viewed as a collective responsibility involving government, political leaders, civil society and citizens.

“There will always be another election and another opportunity to disagree politically. For now, let Osun heal. Let our leaders unite, and let the interest of our people come first,” the council said.

TICC urged all stakeholders to place the peace and development of Osun above partisan interests, describing the post-election period as an opportunity to strengthen unity and promote constructive engagement across political lines.
